Membership costs a minimum of £10 and entitles you to participate in the decision-making processes of Avalon Community Energy, a Community Benefit Society. By joining ACE now you support our growth and development and in turn support the growth and development of a community-owned renewable energy supply in and around the Avalon area.
Avalon Community Energy (ACE) is a multi-stakeholder community benefit society. This means there are two classes of membership - the local Community Member and the Supporter Member. ACE is governed by a set of Co-operative Rules registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
At this stage, we're primarily looking for local Community Members to join, this being people living or working in the Avalon area (roughly covering Street - Wells - Glastonbury - Shepton Mallet and all villages within a 5 mile radius) or else benefitting directly from the energy that will be produced via the organisations' projects. Organisations and private businesses may also become members if they operate within this area. However, there is no block to us also signing you up if you're simply an enthusiast from outside our local area!
Members must also:
- Be 16 or over
- Fill in an Application Form (you will receive a link for this when you register below)
- Be approved by the Directors or their delegated representative
- Support the principles and values of the co-operative movement
- Understand and support the aims of ACE as laid out on this website and in our Mission Statement
Community and Supporter Members have the right to a single vote at designated shareholder meetings and to nominate, be nominated and vote for Directors at ACE's Annual General Meetings.
Copies of the Membership Policy and Business Plan will be sent once your registration is agreed. You can also view the Membership Policy & Mission Statement here: http://www.avaloncommunityenergycoop.co.uk/membership/
